R62,5 m bonanza for Ladysmith

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend
It was something of a major coup for the Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality to be short-listed in the first 10 out of the 283 municipalities countrywide, but to receive a conditional Neighbourhood Development Planning Grant of R62,5 million was a major fillip.

The grant would provide the funds for an access road to Ezakheni through Acaciavale and Mthandi to Pieters, as well as establishing a Commercial Precinct for Ezakheni.

Municipal officials and councillors were ecstatic over the grant, and believed that the much needed commercial development in Ezakheni would become a reality.

The primary focus of the grant was to stimulate and accelerate investment in poor, under served residential neighbourhoods such as townships by providing technical assistance and grant financing for municipal projects that have a distinct private sector element in the project.
