Officer dies in colllision

A memorial service was held at the Ladysmith SAPS station, after the tragic death of 44 year old inspector Sipho Joseph Khumalo. He had been killed in a head on crash along the N11, just outside Ladysmith.

According to eyewitness, who had rushed from their home, after hearing a loud bang, found the Insp. and his passenger badly injured. "they didn't stand a chance , the only thing we could think of was to call the emergency officials," said one of the eyewitnesses.

Street gun battle

Motorists and shop owners in Delhi Street, ran for cover a gun battle between members of a security company and seven armed men.

"One of the men had used my car as a shield, while shooting at the security guards," said one of the eyewitnesses, who pointed out a bullet hole that had richochet onto his vehicle's light and ended up lodged in his vehicle.

Is there really going to be an earthquake?

The Ladysmith Herald was inundated with calls from concerned residents after it published an article on a local religious leader from Watersmeet, who predicted that Ladysmith and huge parts of Kwa Zulu Natal would suffer the beating of an earthquake within the next 13 days.

According to Eric Maduna, who claims he began receiving visions from God in 2000, an earthquake will rip through the country with disastrous consequences for the people of Kwa Zulu Natal.

The Ladysmith Herald featured an article on Eric Maduna earlier this year after eyewitnesses approached this newspaper claiming that Eric was indeed blessed with the gift of prophecy.
