Fast cars and bikes roared like thunder along the first quater mile drag racing event that was recently hosted by the Christian Motorcyclists Association.

All the 'fast and furious' lovers adrenaline-junkies and those with their super sizes revving engines got an opportunity to show spectators, who was King or Queen of the first ever quater mile.

Going for gold

Sandile Malinga is no-stranger to the sport’s pages and has competed in many racing challenges that have been held in and around the Ladysmith area.

From the Bergville marathon to the LAC 21.1km night race, Sandile has successfully completed many races. "I have kick started my training and I am hoping to not only compete against my best personal time, but to be placed in the top 20," said Sandile as he gave a thumbs-up after completing his entry form.
